Deadly Runners
Using running as an entry point to improve health, strengthen connections and create opportunity in First Nations communities.
Deadly Runners delivers free, culturally safe programs that meet people where they are – from beginner groups and leadership camps to pathways for nationally accredited coaching. Since 2023, more than 160 people have participated, 25 community members have gained qualifications and six Aboriginal staff have been employed. The movement builds confidence, resilience and pride as participants step into local, national and international events, demonstrating that mob-led, culture-grounded programs can create self-determination, visibility and lasting community connection well beyond the finish line.
2025 Pitch
Funds Raised: $77,700
Pitched for support to establish the first trail running event in a planned annual series, blending paid public entry with access for Deadly Runners participants. The event is designed to connect people to Country, invite allies to walk and run alongside community, and create employment and leadership opportunities for local coaches and emerging leaders.
