Impact Story:

Tanya came to Sheltered by Grace after experiencing more than three years of homelessness, sleeping rough in Brisbane and struggling with severe isolation, trauma, and mental health challenges. When she arrived, she had lost her home, family connections, belongings, and hope for the future.

Through the support made possible by funding from The Funding Network event, Tanya was able to access safe accommodation, tailored case management, trauma-informed support programs, and ongoing recovery assistance. With consistent support from staff and participation in our recovery and life skills programs, Tanya gradually rebuilt her confidence, wellbeing, and sense of identity.

Today, Tanya speaks openly about how Sheltered by Grace helped her rediscover hope and purpose. She now describes herself as “the true me” and says she feels stronger, more connected, and excited about the future. Tanya credits the programs and support she received with helping her rebuild her life and believes she would not have survived without intervention and support at the right time. Her story is a powerful example of how trauma-informed housing and recovery programs can create lasting, life-changing outcomes for people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.
