River Nile Learning Centre is a North Melbourne not-for-profit providing a free, safe learning space for refugee, asylum seeker and migrant women. It helps women overcome barriers including limited English, trauma, financial hardship and social isolation through English as an Additional Language, numeracy, digital literacy, community services and wellbeing programs. Its community-led model, shaped in part by a Student Committee, ensures its programs are inclusive, culturally responsive and grounded in the voices of the women it supports.

2026 Pitch

Funds Raised: $30,000

River Nile Learning Centre pitched for support to keep its programs accessible for women from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds who face financial hardship, trauma and social isolation. Funding will support program delivery across education, wellbeing and community services, as well as practical assistance such as transport, food relief and core operating needs. By reducing these barriers, the support will help women attend classes consistently, engage fully in learning, build confidence and independence, and strengthen stability for their children and families.
