The Remote OpShop Project is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering First Nations communities in remote Australia through circular economy initiatives.
Remote Opshop Project supports the development of op-shops in Aboriginal communities throughout remote Australia. These community-driven social enterprises generate independent funding that is used to seed local startups, creative projects and answers local needs.

Pitched at Equity and Inclusion event to support the expansion of community-run opshops across the Kimberley region—helping to grow their network in communities still recovering from severe flooding.

The funding supported retail equipment, building materials, and travel costs to visit four remote Kimberley communities and refurbish local spaces with shop fittings, supporting 500 community members.
Impact story:
Looma is a small remote community in the Kimberley, WA, on Nyikina and Mangala Country. Local leader Melissa Skinner began an op shop as a pop-up; funding from The Funding Network allowed the Remote OpShop Project to travel with equipment and building materials to weatherboard and refurbish an underutilised building into a permanent site before the wet season.
