Fitzroy Learning Network

Fitzroy Learning Network

Fitzroy Learning Network inspires people to be active citizens contributing to a fair and inclusive community.

Established in 1985, Fitzroy Learning Network (FLN) is a Neighbourhood House, a Learn Local Centre, and a Registered Training Organisation. FLN is the heart of Fitzroy and is a place where refugees, migrants, asylum seekers and those living on the public housing estates of inner Melbourne find support and where they can learn and connect.

2022 Pitch

Funds Raised: $22,650

Jane, the CEO of FLN pitched at TFN Live in Melbourne to raise funding to continue their cooking classes where they employ refugee and migrant women to facilitate cooking classes and share their cultural cuisines with people who want to learn.

The Impact…

The funds helped to kickstart the Kitchen Catering Project -a program that employed women, built confidence and connection, and celebrated the strengths they have in terms of cooking, and sharing food.

They employed a core group of six women, plus some additional more casual employment and the team has contributed to a range of events both within and external to the organisation, and public and private catering.
