Bridge It
Bridge It provides young people exiting out-of-home care with a home, a community, and the support to thrive.
Bridge It aims to end youth homelessness by providing homes, community and support so young people can lead independent lives. Bridge It runs a residential program called The Cocoon. The Cocoon provides a home for female identifying 17-21 year olds who are exiting from out-of-home care. Central to the model is that homelessness responses need to provide more than just a roof. Residents at the Cocoon receive access to case management, peer mentoring, life and living skills groups, therapies such as massage and acupuncture and community building activities such as BBQs. Bridge It has strong relationships with community housing providers that provide pathways into long term housing for residents.
2023 Pitch
Funds Raised: $50,000
Carla, the CEO/Founder of Bridge It pitched to raise funds to provide a range of therapies to residents. The therapeutic supports enable residents to improve their mental health, work through past trauma and ultimately assists them to stablise their lives to be able to find employment, engage in study and work towards independent living.
The Impact…
Bridge It directed funds to the wellness and therapies programs at the Cocoon. Additionally Bridge It brought their first car, which they have used non stop since! The best thing they have used the car for has been supporting residents to move belongings into their long term homes! The funds from TFN allowed Bridge It to directly support an additional 10 young people
